The
Journey
Our
Spirit is leaving the pre-existence-
Oh,
how gentle blow the breezes, On the day we first set sail.
Sunshine
mirrored on the surface, Promised life’s sweet fairy-tale.
Forth
and onward, new adventures, Lay in each approaching wave.
To the
signs of earthly dangers Not a single thought we gave.
On
with laughter, on with singing, Through the spray towards our dreams.
Far
behind our loved one’s waving, all but lost beyond our gaze.
For
our goal lay in the distance, over hazed horizons way.
And to
reach our destination We sailed on without dismay. --
Our
life on earth—
Soon
the hours of day were fading, Into darkness of the night
Only
stars to lead and guide us, Kept direction in our sight.
Storm
clouds gathered Waves heaved higher,
As we
drifted oh so far, From the safety of the harbor.
Lost
beneath a million stars, Oh, the morn of our departure,
We
remembered it no more. Praying that a loving God
Would
lead us to that far off shore. -
Going
back to our heavenly home
As the
new dawn’s glorious sunlight glides across an endless sea.
Towers
of a far of city beckon, Child come home to me.
As we
step onto the landing, broken oar and tattered sail,
We
relate our life’s encounters, like a wondrous fairy-tale.
